About Me

Beginner Lessons

I accept children as young as five years old as well as beginners well into their senior years. With children, I begin with a classical approach, which means learning to read notes and playing simple songs. However, because I also live in the world of jazz and pop, for some children I find that playing from leadsheets and improvising is more rewarding.

Intermediate Lessons

For students who have some experience playing the piano, my intermediate lessons will help you take your skills to the next level. We'll work on more complex songs and techniques, including scales, arpeggios, and becoming familiar with classic composers.

Advanced Lessons

If you're an experienced pianist, I will help you in a variety of ways. I can teach you to work with leadsheets and improvisation, or I can deepen your knowledge of the classical repertoire. We'll improve your technique, your sightreading skills, and give you a better knowledge of theory, which will inform your interpretation.

Music Theory and Composition

I teach theory and composition, and sneak some of that into my normal piano lessons. Students who are not interested in piano are welcome to study these related disciplines with me as stand-alone subjects.
